Testimony: pastor whose son died in Friburgo testifies

Grace and peace!

“Ó the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shallo be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” Roman's 11:33-36.

The prayers, the support and care of all of you are being of great importance during this difficult times we have faced. Our 12-year old son Heldai (Hebraic for Long last dream - He will be in our hearts forever and with the Lord in His glory) was a boy full of dreams, honest and convict Christian, servant, careful, friend and companion. Back in 2010, our Methodist Church in Vila Virginia accomplished several events of which he took part of almost all because he was in love for the Lord of Jesus and for love to serve God. He was passionate by the MISSIONARY PROJECT A WEEK FOR JESUS, taking part of it and giving support to the sisters of the Vacation Bible School.

My son passed away in the down of January 12th together with other six members o four family. They all were hit by mudslides, despite the fact that they were in a place considered safe, with no slopes nor hills around. The very place our family used to spend our vacations. His body, his uncles' (Methodists that lived in Nova Friburgo) and his cousin were found on Friday afternoon. There was no burial with the presence of the family. The coffins were sealed and we could not even see them. They were buried in the grave of our relatives in Nova Friburgo- RJ.

In that down in Nova Friburgo-RJ, there was this heavy rain and quakes that resulted in mudslides, despite the native riparian vegetation. (I was there and could hear that!). Facing such tragedy when we've lost Helday and other six members of our family, we never grew weary of believing in the sovereignty and designs of God. He took Heldai to Himself. Even having Bible-theological knowledge of the eternity of God, he still miss him and this feeling is strong to the bone.

Beyond the restless support Bishop Adonias and Bishop Paulo Lockmann have given us, the support he have received from our Methodist Churches in Catalão-GO and Vila Virgínia that sent brothers and sisters to help us, the prayers our brothers and sisters from all over have sustained us.

I came back home (Ribeirão Preto - SP) last Tuesday. We are being closely followed by doctors, by our Bishop Adonias and by the care of our brothers and sisters of our local church. Our lives will never remain the same, but with the Grace of God and with your prayers we will go on, and being recovered as family.

Thank you for all you have done!

In Christ!

Rev. Márcio Ramos da Silva
