hope beyond circumstances
“In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree ordering the census of the entire Roman Empire. This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone went to his hometown to enlist. So Joseph also went from the city of Nazareth of Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem, the city of David, because he belonged to the house and lineage of David. He went to enlist, with Maria, who was betrothed to him in marriage and expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.”
Luke 2:1-7
Joseph and Mary faced many adversities on the day of King Jesus' birth. That day required a lot of effort, patience and a fixed gaze in the hope of the arrival of life.
Jesus was born!
In days of pain and fear, may there be room for Him in our hearts.
Faced with the challenges posed by injustice and lack of acceptance, may our anxiety be about welcoming Jesus and announcing his arrival.
In good and bad days, may there be room for Him in us and in our words of hope.
Even though there seems to be no place, the message of Jesus' arrival encourages us to fear nothing but sin, and desire nothing but God. Thus, we will shake the world!
This Christmas and 2022, esperançar (we must always hope).
